Where air washer do not work: Dry out mould!
Spores, mould and mildew are everywhere in our environment. They are a natural part of our habitats and are usually harmless. However, if the concentration of mould spores exceeds a certain level, mould can lead to health problems, respiratory diseases and allergies.
The cause of mould growth is always due to excessive room and air humidity. Increased caution is required for residents when detecting mould and the first step is to analyse the source of the moisture. Reasons for the formation of mould can be structural defects, a high level of sealing for energy-saving reasons, but also improper heating and ventilation.
A lot of moisture is also produced by showering, cooking, drying laundry and, for example, when running large aquariums. Special Hepa air purifiers filter the room air from mould, spores and fungi. This considerably reduces the health risk, but the growth of mould should be contained by structural renovation or special dehumidifiers.
Air purifiers can filter 99% of mould spores
By using special devices for air purification, pathogens, bacteria and micro-organisms can be removed from the room air and rendered harmless. Devices with inverter lamps, UV lamps or photocatalytic filters literally “decompose” pathogens, viruses and airborne mould spores and thus eliminate the health hazard.
Air purifiers also remove aerosoles from air
A big issue of the COVID-19 pandemic occurs indoors, as people breathe and the so called aerosoles collect in closed rooms and spread. This led to many infection clusters in meat processing businesses, companies, bars and other kind of locations, where people followed the suggested distances but were too long in a room full of exhaled and enriched particles.
Don’t understand this the wrong way!
Air purifiers can not prevent infections e.g. with COVID-19, if you don’t follow the distance rules or wear a mask at situations, where you get to close to other people. The human to human infection is the common way the virus keeps spreading, BUT an air purifier including true HEPA filter can lower the risk indoors, if you keep the distance and filter the air particles, additionally to all other healthy effects for your lungs and well being.
Purchase criteria
When buying, the points at night should be considered:
- Does the unit power match the room size? (ideal air circulation: 2 times per hour)
- Is the filter suitable for house dust?
- How often must filters be changed?
- How much do replacement filters cost?
- Energy consumption, operating noise
- Price-performance ratio
- Performance of the manufacturer (warranty, service, goodwill)
